Our keynoters have both been instrumental in the history of EcoVillage at Ithaca, a model for land conservation and sustainable neighborhood development. On the basis of that experience, Liz Walker and Jerry Weisburd now work with people around the world to further develop the “science of sustainability.”
Liz Walker
Liz will share her experiences as co-founder and director of EcoVillage at Ithaca (EVI). She’ll talk about the Ithaca region’s flourishing sustainability movement and give a picture of the learning community that cohousing members create. Liz is author of EcoVillage at Ithaca: Pioneering a Sustainable Culture. She will sign copies for you.
Jerry Weisburd
Architect and member of the Design/Build team for EVI’s first neighborhood. Jerry will share results from a case study in green architecture: “FRoG” ("First Residents Group") of Ecovillage, completed in August 1997.
