When a Thief is a Thief

by Herschel Sternlieb

One day, the Lord of Enron, all battered and bruised, showed up at KingBushy Tushy’s castle seeking asylum.

"They’re after me! They’re after me!" he screamed ."I must speak to the king, immediately,"

"Not so fast," cautioned Chancellor Cheney." First, tell me who pursues you?"

"A huge posse, the Barons of Wall Street, the Lords of the Democratic Senate, several attormeys general and a horde of unwashed serfs."

"What on earth did you ever do to arouse such hostility?"

"I bilked the Barons and the serfs out of billions."

Cheney’s jaw dropped. He summoned, Lord Greenspan, Sir Ashcroft and Lord O’Neal for a conference. They debated long into the night whether to notify the king. It was finally decided to deny Lord Enron the safety and protection of the Castle and not to so notify the king.
Lord Enron protested. ‘Why won’t you tell the king?"

"He wouldn’t understand your actions," replied Cheney, "since he is against stealing."

"But what about Florida?" questioned Enron. "That was one of the greatest thefts of all time."

‘True, but there is a huge difference; that was for votes and not for money."
